Non-League Yeovil Claim Blackpool's Scalp in FA Cup
January 11, 2001 - 0:0
LONDON Yeovil claimed their 20th league scalp in the FA Cup on Sunday, when the notorious non-leaguers beat third division Blackpool 1-0 away to reach the third round.
Nick Crittenden scored the winner with a curling right-foot shot inside the penalty area in first-half injury-time, enough to see off a club who won the cup in 1953.
Yeovil became the fourth team to upset league opposition in the second round over the weekend after Dagenham and Redbridge beat Lincoln, Chester defeated Oxford and Morecambe beat Cambridge United.
There was no such luck though for minor leaguers Canvey island, who went down 2-1 on Sunday to Southend.
